Hazel N. Jones, 96, of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 3, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Kennebunk, the third daughter of William H. and Frances J. Macdonald Nedeau on Nov. 11 1918, the day WWI ended. She attended the Kennebunk schools and graduated in the class of 1937 from KHS. She married Kenneth H Jones on May 12, 1946 at her parent’s home after he returned from his service in WWII.
Hazel worked many years as ballot clerk for the town of Kennebunk and she was actively interested in local and national politics. She and her family were active in the beginnings of Camp Waban where her daughter “Cindy” attended for many years. In her later years she wintered in Palm Bay, Florida where she had many friends with whom she played cards and dominos. When she was in Maine she resided at Atria in Kennebunk and later The Inn at Atlantic Heights in Saco until she moved to Seal Rock Healthcare.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband in 1982, her daughters Linda in 1949, Lucinda Marie in 2004 and Susan Frances in 2008. Also a brother Richard Ivan Nedeau, and two sisters - Helen Dorothy Davis and Gladys Linna Staples Callbeck
She is survived by a daughter Sherry Jones and her partner Becky Foster of Steep Falls, a grandson Alexander K. Jones of Portland, a sister Shirley Pinard of FL, a cousin Madeline Marx of Kennebunk, nieces Sandra Lindsay and her husband Rodney of MD/FL, Lori Paddock and her husband Arthur of FL and Sally Davis of NY, and several great nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. Interment will be in the Spring in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to: Maine Special Olympics, 125 John Roberts Road, #5, South Portland, ME 04106. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
