Condolences

Condolence From: Paul K
Condolence: June was a very kind woman who took the time to explain details of her local birds to me on more than one occasion. She was a friend to to the birds, and unfailingly courteous to me, and Maine is poorer for having lost her but was fortunate to know her so long.

Condolence From: Scott McNeff
Condolence: The world lost an incredible human being when June left us. When I started banding birds with June in the early 1990's I had no idea how much she would change my life. June Ficker was one of the strongest influences on my life as a young man, and helped push me down the path toward studying science and biology as an undergraduate. In fact, she more or less single-handedly got me accepted to college. June was an absolute "pistol" of a woman, and had a wonderful attitude about life, and lived it well, with verve and enthusiasm. She was truly a life-long learner, an educator and scientist and shared her knowledge with so many people for so many years. I'm so lucky to have spent the time with her that I did, and I already miss her so much. I love you June.

Condolence: My father loved Dr. Ficker. And my husband & I had the pleasure of meeting June at the Farm where we have been spending much of our summers the past few years. Her dedication to the birds and educating others about the science of bird banding was literally the draw on everyone's attention at these sessions. Once, She volunteered to come to our assistance when we could not successfully rescue a bird from the wood stove. And, after a great visit and a successful rescue of a feathered friend, we used my iPad to video her sitting with us as well as to send a message to my brother, Charles.
She had a fine spirit and a wonderful air of accomplishment about her. She will be missed. Our condolences to her loving family.

Condolence: Though we did not know June for long, she left a lasting impression with her outgoing personality and willingness to teach all about the wonderful world of birding. A lovely genuine woman that we are fortunate to have been able to meet. Sincere condolences to all her family and friends.
