Obituary for Richard Floyd Erickson

Richard Floyd Erickson, 86 years old, died March 19th in Southern Maine Health Care, Biddeford, Maine. He was born in Great Falls, Montana, son of the late Theodora Mieyr Erickson and Floyd Raymond Erickson, and lived in Great Falls, Boston, Belmont, MA, and Kennebunk, ME.

During his service in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War, he studied at the Aviation Electronics School in Memphis, TN. He attended Northeastern University and received an Associate Arts in Extension Studies from Harvard University.

He was a former radio engineer at WEEI, WCOP, and WHDH in Boston and retired as a cameraman for Channel 5, Needham, MA. He and his wife, Jean O’Brien Erickson lived for 34 years in Belmont, MA, then retired to Kennebunk Beach in 1993. Richard was a member of IBEW Local 1228.

In addition to his wife, Jean, his survivors are his sister, Jane Hochstein and her husband Theodore of White Lakes, MI; his daughter, Sara Jane Erickson, MD of Atlantic Beach, FL; his son, Daniel Erickson and wife Elizabeth Kelley Erickson of Beverly Hills, CA; and three grandchildren, Emma Rose Kuehn, Christian Erickson Kuehn, and Paul Gunnar Kuehn of Atlantic Beach, FL.

His brother, Raymond John Erickson predeceased him.

Friends may visit on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 7-9 pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 21 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Road, Kennebunk. Interment in Hope Cemetery at a later date.
