Obituary for Richard Maurice "Rick" Gendreau

“Richard Maurice Gendreau, nobody will ever be what you were…The way you could make anybody laugh, even in the hard times, never showed weakness and never gave up. Most of all you were the best father anyone could ask for and your greatness will never be forgotten. You will forever be missed and will live on in those who knew you.”

Richard “Rick” Maurice Gendreau, aged 54, of Sanford, Maine, died on October 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by the joys of his life, his daughter Amanda Gendreau and his son Ryan Gendreau. He was married to their mother, Kathleen Adams Gendreau for over 20 years. He is also survived by his mother Edna B. Gendreau, his sisters Donna Rivard and Kathleen Boucher, all of Kennebunk, many nieces and nephews, and his long time best friend Barbara Maloney. He was predeceased by his father, Maurice R. Gendreau.

Rick began working carpentry with his dad as a teenager and later became owner of Charland & Gendreau Builders, Inc during the 80’s and 90’s. Some of his most proud accomplishments were the renovation of the Lafayette Center, construction of Grants Farm in Kennebunk and Dunelawn and Ontio Condominium in Ogunquit. Following a successful career in development he pursued a career in information technology.

A celebration of life will be held in his memory at the Dorothy Stevens Center, Thompson Road, West Kennebunk from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016.
