B. Rose Pierce, 76, a resident of Kennebunk and longtime resident of Main St, Kennebunkport, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a period of failing health.

Rose was born December 16, 1940 in Biddeford, the daughter of Herbert Wilbur and Florence Elizabeth Perkins Emmons, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School. She attended University of Maine Farmington, before being whisked away by the love of her life, Richard L. Pierce, whom she married October 6, 1962, and then moved to California, where he was stationed in the armed forces.

Returning to Kennebunkport, she opened her childcare business, Rosies Daycare, which she took great pride in operating, serving several generations of families for over 40 years, receiving accolades from the teachers in town for how her children were ready to attend school.

Rose was also an artisan, creating Victorian Christmas tree ornaments, which she sold locally in Dock Square, and mailed throughout the country to her loyal customers. She was a member of the Church on the Cape, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and tended her beloved flower gardens, which she used to create her own designs, and for the enjoyment of her family.

She is predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, Howard and Douglas Emmons, and a grandson Logan John Pierce.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard Pierce of Kennebunk; two sons, Bruce Pierce and his wife Michelle of Biddeford, and Heath Pierce and his wife Jennifer of Saco; three grandchildren, Matthew, Jared and Brady Pierce, and her lifelong friend, Marcia Cook of Kennebunk.

Visiting hours will be held 2- 4PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM, Monday, January 23, at Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Road, Kennebunkport, with Reverend Pat MacHugh officiating. Interment will follow in Arundel Cemetery.
