Obituary for Willis William "Willie" Wilson
Dateline: Kennebunk
Willis William “Willie” Wilson, 87 years, a resident of Lower Village, Kennebunk passed away Friday March 24, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.
Willie was born in Saco on March 13, 1930, a son of Fred Arthur and Cora Mary Rita (Dumus) Wilson Sr. and attended Biddeford and Saco Schools.
Willie was a longtime owner of a landscaping and snowplowing business. He had a green
thumb and was always working hard to keep his friends’ and family homes and buildings
in the utmost peak condition. He maintained flower beds yearly at Kennebunk
Beach, for many years. Willie has touched many lives with his loving and giving
personality.
Willie enjoyed hunting, fishing and feeding birds. He had a love for animals that lead many strays to the house, “Mimi” his favorite cat would always sit at the window waiting for him to get home.
Willie was an avid firefighter for Kennebunk Fire Rescue at Washington Hose Station in Lower Village for over 51 years, and could be found many nights helping those in need, until his illness.
Willie was predeceased by his parents and his sister Rita Welch .
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their loving and considerate care of Willie during his final days.
Willie is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Helen A. (Rounds) Wilson of Kennebunk; his three brothers, Fred A. Wilson, Jr and his wife Nina of Massachusetts, Francis Wilson and his wife Helen of Wells, ME and David Wilson and his wife Debbie of Berwick and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 3 PM Tuesday March 28, 2017 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM at the Chapel with Reverend Carolyn Lambert officiating. Burial on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Tory Hill Cemetery, Buxton.
Should Friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Kennebunk Fire Rescue, 1 Summer Street Kennebunk, Maine 04043 or to the Animal Welfare Society P.O. Box 43 West Kennebunk, Maine 04094 in Willie’s memory
