Obituary for Robert David "Bob" Dufort

Robert David “Bob” Dufort, 65, of Wells, died unexpectedly Monday night, June 12, 2017 at York Hospital. He was born in York Harbor, ME on March 8, 1952, the fifth of eight children born to Roland Andrian Joseph Dufort, Sr., and Alice E. (Cheney) Dufort. He attended the Wells School System, graduating from Wells High School, Class of 1970. Following High School, he worked for Hussey Manufacturing in North Berwick for 17 years, at which point he left to take a job at the Norseman in the Maintenance department year round. During the winter, he also worked at Dead River Oil Co., in Biddeford. Even though semi-retired, he worked for the Town of Wells, and did many side jobs. In the winter months, he worked with his son plowing snow for Patten Grounds Care, Inc.

In earlier years, Bob loved hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and working on cars. He enjoyed relaxing with a cold Bud Light, but was most passionate about working. He was a very hard worker, always ensuring that his family was taken care of. He was a big sports fan, and enjoyed watching Zach and Eliza playing school sports. Bob will be deeply missed by his beloved family and friends.

He is predeceased by his father, Roland A.J. Dufort, Sr.

Bob is survived by his son, Zachary Dufort of Wells; his daughter, Eliza Dufort of Wells; his mother, Alice E. Dufort of FL; two brothers, Michael F. Dufort and wife Tammy of Wells, Roland A.J. Dufort, Jr., and wife Debbie of Wells; five sisters, Penelope Bourque and husband Michel of Wells, Joanne Poates and husband Henry of Wildwood, FL, Priscilla Marean and husband William of Wildwood, FL, Candace Ducharme and husband Errol of Sanford, Danielle Weston and husband Andrew of Wells; one granddaughter, Aaliyah Dufort; several nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. Should friends choose, memorial donations in his name are encouraged to: The American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route One, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
