Obituary for Arthur Edward Hill Sr.

Arthur E. Hill Sr., 82, a resident of Alewive Road, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 surrounded by his family at his farm that he lovingly cared for most of his adult life.

Arthur was born January 26, 1935 in Waterboro, the son of Wyman Edward and
Eliza Blanche (Andrews) Hill, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, class of 1955.

Soon after graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Louise Turner on October 21, 1955, and together began their family life on the farm.

He was employed by the Maine DOT for 35 years, and raised a herd of registered Ayrshire milking cows on his farm. He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years.

Arthur was a longtime member of Arion Lodge # 162 in Goodwin’s Mills, was a lifetime member of the Maine Trappers Association and a longtime member and supporter of the 4H Club. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. Known as the “pansy man” he raised field grown pansies, and grew vegetables, which he sold at his roadside farm stand for many years.

Besides his parents, Arthur is predeceased by his brother Carl Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Louise Hill of Lyman, two sons, Arthur Hill “PeeWee” Jr., and Carl A. Hill “Digger” Sr. and his wife Elizabeth, both of Arundel; daughters Cindy H. Wright and her husband James of Augusta, Mary “Rosie” H. Brown and her husband Charlie of Kennebunk, and Linda E. Bridges and her husband David of Kennebunkport; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and extended Vermont Family.

Friends are invited to visiting hours 4 – 7 PM Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk, followed by a funeral service at the Funeral Home at 11 AM Saturday, July 1, 2017. Interment will follow on the family farm in Lyman.
