Obituary for Russell Philip "RUSS" Fox

After a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer Russell “RUSS” Philip Fox, 74 yrs, a resident of Branch Road died Saturday July 8, 2017 at the Brigham’s Woman’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by his family. Russ was born in Cambridge, Mass on June 9, 1943 one of a set of triplets, son of Richard A and Virginia L (Dickerman) Fox. He graduated from Oswego High School , Oswego, New York the class of 1962, and he also attended Weaver Airline School in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1964 as a radioman, where he bravely served his country during the Cuban missile crisis.

Russ worked for several companies before becoming a self-employed painter in Wells for over thirty years until his retirement in 2013.

Russ was a member of St Mary’s Church of Wells, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Wells, and was a longtime school board member for the Wells –Ogunquit School system serving for over 20 years. Russ also served on the Wells Recreation Commission for several years.

Russ loved to watch his family play and coach local school sports and was an avid New England sports fan, following the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Russ loved spending time with his four grandkids and family, making annual trips to Bar Harbor, gardening and was a collector of Lionel trains.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Russ is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lillian (Pavelonis) Fox of Wells; three sons, Brian Fox , Kevin Fox and his wife Catherine and David Fox all of Wells; a daughter, Laurie Lisowe and her husband Steven of Nashua, NH., five brothers Bob Piazzi of Texas, Roger Fox and his wife, Sue, of NC., Herb Fox and his wife, Bernadette, of Limerick, ME., Rick Fox of FL, Don Fox of the Philippines and a sister Sandra Santore and her husband, Joseph, of SC., and four grandchildren Lilyann, Lincoln, Brady and Brooks.

Memorial visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM Thursday July 13, 2017 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 111 Chapel Road Wells with a Knights of Columbus service held at 6: 30 PM.

A Memorial Mass will be held 1 PM Friday July 14, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Parish at St Mary’s Church, Eldridge Road, Wells.
