Obituary for Robert Wayne "Bob" Warren

Robert Wayne Warren, 77, of Lyman, ME and Estero, FL died July 20, 2017 from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Pulmonary Fibrosis at Huntington Common in Kennebunk, ME.
Bob, a kind and gentle man, was born in Biddeford, ME October 8, 1939 to William F. and Dorothy (Amadon) Warren of Kennebunk. He graduated in the Kennebunk High School class of 1957. He went on to earn a B.S. in biology from the University of Maine at Orono where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He continued his education at Central CT State University in New Britain CT where he received his M.S. and a 7th year also in biology. He happily taught at Henry James Memorial in Simsbury CT for over 30 years. A master storyteller, Bob kept his students entertained with biological anecdotes which enlivened the subject at hand. Before the age of classroom technology he wrote a basic program for species identification which his students utilized for years. In 1965 he married Valerie Ann Foulois in Washington, CT.
Bob was a family man who was very involved with his sons in both Simsbury and Lyman. He coached their sports, attended all their events and taught them to fish and play golf. He loved sailing the coast of Maine with his father. He and his father taught his sons to love the sea and the woods. Bob also was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and UConn basketball. Throughout his life he enjoyed travelling to Civil War sites, reading, playing poker with his buddies, chess and stamp and coin collecting. In his 50 years on Swan Pond in Lyman, he never tired of the music of the loons or the antics of the hummingbirds at his feeder. When evening came, cocktail cruises around the pond and lobster dinners were memorable family events.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Valerie; his son William and his wife Danielle of Kennebunk; his son, Adam and his wife, Julia, of North Granby, CT and his three grandchildren, Miranda, Nicholas and Christian. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Linda and Ron Collins of Wells, ME.
Honoring Bob’s wishes there will be no services. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
