Obituary for Bruce A. Brown

Dateline - Wells

Bruce A. Brown, 74, of Wells, died late Tuesday night, July 25, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born in Wells on March 6, 1943, a son of William Osgood and Mabel F.(Rundlett) Brown. He grew up in Wells, attending Wells High School.

Bruce spent his entire life in the Wells area where he owned and operated Brown’s Service Center in Moody for close to 50 years. Bruce took great pride in his love of Wells, and his garage where he made many life long relationships.

On October 12, 1965 Bruce married the love of his life Maureen Sweeney. They spent 51 wonderful years together and raised three boys, whom Bruce was very proud of.

Bruce had many interests, he loved the Patriots, Red Sox, playing cards with his good friends. Most of all Bruce loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Bruce is predeceased by two brothers, William R. Brown and Donald C. Brown; and a brother-in-law, Owen Sponagle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Maureen (Sweeney) Brown of Wells; three sons, Sean Brown and wife Lisa of Seabrook, NH, Marc Brown and wife Lori of Wells, Jeffrey Brown and wife Terry of Cumberland; a brother, Robert Brown and wife Sandra of Wells; a sister-in-law, Janet Sponagle of Harvard, MA. His grandchildren Halle, Tristan, Benjamin, Jacy, Jonathan, Gabe and Finn Brown

Visiting hours will be on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. Burial will be private. Should friends choose, memorial donations in his name are encouraged to: Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 U.S. Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
