Obituary for Harvey Nelson "Harv" Flint

Harvey Nelson Flint, 85 years a resident of Berwick, died peacefully at his home with his loving wife and children at his side on Saturday August 5, 2017.

Harvey was born in Dover, NH on December 14, 1931 a son of Daniel and Hazel (Hill) Flint Sr. and attended Dover schools.

He worked for ten years at General Electric, became a self-employed mechanic at his garage, Harv’s Auto Repair, for many years, he then went to General Linen as a mechanic for several years, and then worked for the Town of Sanford.

Harvey served in the NH Army National Guard for 37 years. He retired in 1991 from service Battery 197 Field Artillary Battalion. He routinely would support the Memorial Day parade in North Berwick and Berwick.

Harvey always looked forward to Wednesday's when he would get together with his Army Buddies. They came to his house faithfully every week.

Harvey enjoyed his annual hunting trip to the Northern Woods of Maine. He loved watching football on Sundays and Monday and especially loved his New York Giants. He treasured dancing with his wife and the “Big” gathering with family and friends.

Harvey was predeceased by his parents, his three brothers, Daniel Flint Jr., Richard Flint and twin brother Hervey Flint, and four sisters, Audrey Ellis, Joyce Peck, Lorraine Emerson, and Arlene Pettis and his special granddaughter Jennifer Lee Couture.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn Barbara (Knight) Flint of Berwick, a son Daniel Flint and his wife Donna of Sanford, two daughters Karen and her husband Rob Kilgore of Berwick and Susan and her husband Bill Blanchette of Somersworth, NH and seven special grandchildren Kelly Shannon, Steven Couture Jr., Ryan Kilgore, Kimberly Flint, Daniel Flint, Amanda Flint-Diaz and Heather Chandler, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 special step grandchildren, Timothy Blanchette and Christine Ruff and her husband, Bill.

Visiting Hours will be held 10 AM to 12:30 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick follow by a funeral service at 12:30 PM with Reverend Burt Howe officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale, ME at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the VNA-Home Health Hospice, 50 Foden Road, Suite 3, South Portland, Maine 04106 in Mr. Flint’s memory.
