Obituary for Anne Holt Sullivan

Anne Holt Sullivan, a longtime resident of Ogunquit and York, ME, died early Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017. Annie was born on July 29, 1938 in Nashua, NH to Harold and Louise (Forbes) Holt. Annie’s brother, Alan Holt Sr. preceded her in death. Annie was a graduate of Nashua High School where she said her major accomplishment was being a cheerleader. She attended the University of New Hampshire. She was married to Lt (jg) R. J. Sullivan USN, a Navy pilot, who was killed during the Vietnam War.

Annie had many passions in life; first among them the husband Bruce with whom she traveled extensively, as well as her family, and many, many friends. She was a fine skier, and an avid golfer, serving two years as the President of the Cape Neddick Country Club Women’s League. She loved to run, her favorite race was the Bonny Belle 10K. She was a loyal fan of the Red Sox and thought Tom Brady of the New England Patriots had descended from Olympus. Annie was a faithful friend to all animals, most especially her cats, none more loved than Maude Adams who, like Annie, is now in a better place.

Annie had a warm, generous spirit. She completed two 60 Mile Avon Breast Cancer walks raising over thirty thousand dollars in support of that cause. She loved gardening and raised beautiful flowers at her home in Cape Neddick, (York), ME. She loved ice cream from the Scoop Deck in Wells.

She is survived by her husband, Col. Bruce Martin, USMC (Ret.); her daughter, Lisa Gaudet and her husband John, of Wells, ME; her granddaughter, Jessica McOsker and her husband Tyler, of Wells, ME; grandson Brett Moore of Wells, ME; two great grandsons, Francis and Henry McOsker; stepson William Martin of Wells, ME; and stepdaughter Sarah Martin of Nederland, CO. Additionally, she is survived by a nephew, Capt. Alan Holt Jr. USN (Ret) of Silverdale, WA; and a niece, Kelsey Maier of Windham, ME.

There are no services planned however a celebration of Annie’s life will be held at the Cape Neddick Country Club on Shore Road in York, ME from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
