Obituary for Claire Frances Broughton (Cullity)
Claire F. Broughton, 73, a retired resident of Kennebunkport, ME, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept 2, 2017.
Claire is predeceased by her former husband Leonard Broughton and her parents, Daniel and Barbara Cullity. She is survived by her sister, Joan Sullivan and her husband Roger of South Carolina; her four children, Kevin Broughton and his wife, Karen of Kennebunk, ME, Elizabeth Broughton of Worcester, MA, Dennis Broughton of Westfield, NJ and Barbara Getchell and her husband Glen of Plaistow, NH; her 13 grandchildren, Erin Lynch and her husband Jack Hibert, Amanda Poff and her husband Benjamin, Will Broughton, Kelly Lynch, Daniel Getchell, Jeremy Getchell, Drew Lynch, Benjamin Broughton, Sarah Broughton, Caitlin Lynch, Emily Broughton, David Broughton and Amy Broughton;and her great granddaughter Shay Elise Poff.
Claire grew up in Hamilton, MA where she married her high school sweetheart and raised their four children. A graduate of Salem State College, she worked throughout her career for the New England Board of Higher Education and Addison Wesley Publishing Company. She loved to travel and was drawn to the ocean. Claire adored her grandchildren and all their accomplishments and was especially proud of her newborn great granddaughter. She enjoyed reading, trivia and spending time with her dogs, Riley and Bridget. Claire was devoted to her faith and regularly attended services at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kennebunk, ME.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish-St. Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Rd, Kennebunk, ME.
