Obituary for Joan Ann Baines (Jakaitis)
Joan Ann Baines, 84 years, of Biddeford died October 12, 2017 at St. Andres Health Care Facility in Biddeford.
Joan was born June 23, 1933 in Manchester, NH, a daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Vandenburg) Jakaitis. She graduated from West High in Manchester, NH. Joan married her high school sweetheart, Edward Baines, celebrating over 50 years together until his passing in 2006. In addition to being a stay at home mom, Joan worked as a secretary for Delta Dental in Concord.
Joan enjoyed volunteering and was a member of the New Hampshire State Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in Concord and volunteered at the Nott House for the Kennebunkport Historical Society. She was a past member of the Pine Tree Ladies and attended Holy Spirit Parish- St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk.
Joan is lovingly remembered by her son, Steven Baines and his wife, Sarah, of Saco; her daughter, Deborah Dickenson and her husband, Dan, of Essex, VT; and her three grandchildren, Samantha Baines of Saco, Bryan Dickenson of New Mexico and Alex Dickenson of Essex, VT.
Funeral services will be private.
