Obituary for Jean E. Currier (Nerden)

Jean E. Currier, 88 , passed away peacefully at Wentworth Douglas Hospital on Saturday October 14th after a brief illness.

Jean was born on February 4, 1929 to Philip H. and Evelyn B. Sanborn Nerden, was raised in Salisbury, NH, graduated from Franklin High School and attended the former Margaret’s School of Hair Design in Concord.

She married Richard W. Currier on June 4th 1950, recently celebrating their 67 years together. Richard and Jean began their family in Bristol, NH and for the past 61 years have been living and enjoying life in Berwick, Maine.

Jean is a member of the Berwick United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the Gleaners, Couples Club and providing handcraft and delicious baked goods for the Christmas Fairs. She was also a member of the Berwick Historical Society. Jean was a homemaker, beloved by her family, neighbors and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her son, Richard J. Currier and son-in-law Dennis Nadeau.

Survivors include her husband Richard Currier of Berwick, two daughters, Rev. Cynthia J. Nickerson of Epping, and Linda M. Nadeau of Wells, grandchildren, Michelle(Bob) Jaques, Marc (Erin) Nickerson, Nathan (Leah) Nadeau, Lainey Nadeau, Kelsey(Joe) Reed, Brooke (Lee) Frank and Lorne Currier. She lovingly adored her great grandchildren, Logan and Myley Mitchell, Joseph, Brooks and Adeline Reed, Addison, and Annabelle Frank. Jean is also survived by her sister Betty Burdick of Chesterfield, VA, a niece and several nephews.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, October 18 at Laing Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St. Berwick. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at Berwick United Methodist Church, with Reverend Skip Smith officiating, 37 School St. Berwick. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick. A collation will follow at the church.

Flowers are welcome or should friends desire, memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to the Berwick United Methodist Church, 37 School St. Berwick ME. 03901, or Dennis Nadeau Memorial Scholarship, Troop 356, c/o David Sinclair, 286 Burnt Mill Rd. Wells, ME. 04090. Envelopes will be provided.
