Obituary for Julius Carmen Palmero

After a brave battle with cancer, Julius Carmen Palmero, 85 years, of Kennebunk died at home on October 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Julius was born at home on January 16, 1932 in Wallingford, CT, a son of Angelo and Carmella (Landalino) Palmero. He graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford.
Julius served his country in the U. S. Navy Reserves for eight years. On September 7, 1957, Julius married Carol Ann McBride.

Julius was a talented, artistic craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and painting. He applied those skills to numerous careers throughout his life in the forms of butchery, carpentry, his own sign painting business and working for the Kennebunk School system in the maintenance departments as well as his personal hobbies and pastimes. In his retirement years, Julius learned to cook and applied his new skills both at home and for the various church meals that he volunteered for. Most importantly, Julius adored his family and loved being surrounded by his ‘girls’, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Julius was very involved with his church, Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church. He was a regular communicant and served as the head usher for years. He was a proud Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for numerous events and church meals.

In addition to his parents, Julius was predeceased by his sister, Mary York and his brothers, John and Anthony Palmero.

Julius is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Carol; his daughters, Carol Ingraham and her husband, Stephen, of Kennebunk, Laurie Wallace and her husband, David, of Haverhill, MA and Sandra Perkins and her husband, Rick, of Kennebunk; his brother, Albert Palmero of CT; his eleven grandchildren, Sarah Ingraham, Emily Ingraham, Anna Ingraham, Erin Ingraham, Kelia Ingraham, Jillian Hoffman, Benjamin Wallace, Samuel Wallace, Timothy Nest, Taylor Nest and Abigail Nest; and three great grandchildren, Ella Bell, Tucker Nest and Ryder Hoffman.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church with Fr. Fred Morse. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.

Julius’s family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine for the wonderful care they provided and to Fr. Fred Morse, Fr. Vincent Malone and Rev. Msgr. Charles Murphy for the comforting visits to their home during this tender time.
