Obituary for Patricia J. "Pat" Chick (Reno)

Patricia J. "Pat" Chick (Reno)
Kennebunkport, Maine –
Patricia J. Chick, 91, of Kennebunkport died peacefully at Huntington Common on November 16th, 2017. Originally from Winthrop, MA, Patricia, (known as Pat) was born on February 24, 1926. She was the middle child of Ralph and Lillian Reno (McNally), had an older brother Leonard Reno (deceased) and younger sister Claire Crotty of Saugus MA.
She met the love of her life, Booth Chick on the waterfront while he was stationed in Boston Harbor serving in the US Army. They eloped on March 24, 1944 to Kennebunkport and remained lifelong resident there ever since.
As a newlywed, she worked at Millers Drugstore in Dock Square, and then in the late 1950’s had the first nursery school in Kennebunkport with Jean Roffler. Back in the day, the two would drive around town, piling the kids into the back of the station wagon picking up and dropping the children at their homes. She went on to be the secretary at the Kennebunk River Club for many years. After Booth retired in 1986, they spent winters in Boca Grande, FL.
She enjoyed many years as an avid runner, and was most proud of running in several of the Beach to Beacon Road Races, the first being in 1999 at age 73. She also ran in many area races, and you could often see her running the beaches and streets of Kennebunkport year round. Pat also had a passion for gardening, reading, tennis and her dogs. More than anything, she was a devoted mother and grandmother to her girls.
Pat was a former member of Arundel Yacht Club, Kennebunk River Club, a member of the Senior Center, South Congregational Church in Kennebunkport, and a long time friend of Bill W.
She was predeceased by beloved husband Booth Chick who died in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter Patti Tynan and husband Joe, granddaughters Sarah Booth Auer and husband Matthew and Katie Reagan Mooney and husband Brock, along with five great-grandchildren, Lucy, Carly, Mary Mooney, Willy and Spencer-Booth Auer all residents of Kennebunk, her sister Claire Crotty of Saugus MA and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 26th at 2:30pm at the South Congregational Church, 2 North Street, Kennebunkport with Rev Charles Whiston officiating. Private burial will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094 or Alcoholics Anonymous, Central Service Office, 47 Portland St,Portland, Me. 04101,
