John  J.  Donovan
– Watertown MA and Alfred ME

John J. Donovan, 71, former longtime resident of Watertown, MA, who retired to Alfred, ME to be closer to his family, died November 24, 2017 comfortably in his home surrounded by family and friends.

John’s passion and life’s mission is to help those in Recovery Programs. He leaves a legacy of selfless service in being an advocate and compassionate friend to those in need. He gave freely of his time and connected resources to help people stand on their own. He leaves behind a community of people that he has helped to achieve positive new levels in their lives.

He was predeceased by his brothers, William and Robert Donovan.

Survivors include his sister, Margaret Maillet, many nieces and nephews including his niece, Theresa Giordano and her husband Philip, along with their children Christopher, Michelle, and great great nephew, Peter; niece, Sacha Anastasio, her husband, Mark, and children Jarod, Dylan, and Marissa; along with the Donovan crew of Michael, Brian, Colleen Swenson, Patricia Ballarino, and William Donovan and their many children.

Services to celebrate the life and gift that John brings to others, visiting hours will be held 5-8 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 30 Portland Rd, Kennebunk, with Fr. Fred Morse officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk.
