Obituary for Lawrence E. "Larry" Hilton

Lawrence E. Hilton, 61 years, a resident of Burnt Mill Road, Wells died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born on November 29, 1956 in Hartford, CT, the son of Harry Arthur and Grace M. (Searles) Hilton, Sr. He attended Simsbury, CT schools and then moved to Wells, ME. He worked for Sutton Mills, AeroFab and Cyro, all in Sanford, ME. His most recent job was at Reny’s Department Store in Wells.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting and bow hunting. He enjoyed oil and water painting and the arts. He loved to go camping, and was notorious for putting up a tent in the woods wherever he found a good spot off the road. He enjoyed campfires with family and friends, music and playing the harmonica. He loved dogs, especially his dog “Moose”.

He was a member of Bass Pro Club Nationwide and the Kennebunk Fish and Game Club.

He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Paul Hilton.

He is survived by his mother, Grace Hilton of Wells, ME and his daughter Elicia Hilton and her companion Rey Theriault of Sanford, ME; a brother Harry A. Hilton, Jr. and his wife Bea of Brownville Junction, ME; three sisters, Teressie K. Garland and her husband Barry of Wells, ME, Deborah C. Lavoie and her companion Robert of Canton, ME and Dawn V. Hilton and her companion Jay of Lowell, MA; three grandchildren, Mercadey, Trinity and Brayden all of Sanford and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, followed by a funeral service at noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Elicia Hilton, 31A Shaw Street, Sanford, ME 04073, to assist with expenses.
