Ogunquit, Maine
Earl Joseph Hogan, 91 years, a resident of Ogunquit, ME formerly of Arlington, MA died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home after a longlife.
Earl was born in Brownville Junction, Maine on June 2, 1926 a son of Daniel E and Thelma M (Milbury) Hogan and graduated from Brownville Junction High School. He also attended Seminary in Ottawa, Canada for several years. He served with the US Navy in WWII. After the war, he became an accountant for Boston and Maine Railroad for over thirty years. During his retirement, he drove school buses for Lexington, MA schools for several years. He moved to Ogunquit, ME in 2004. In his early years, he and his father built a camp on the Miramichi River in Canada.
He enjoyed cribbage, clam digging, bowling and spending time with his grandkids.
He was member of Holy Spirit Parish - St. Mary’s Church of Wells where he was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Wells.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Hellen T. (Connor) Hogan, his son, Sean Joseph Hogan and his brother, Mike Hogan.
He was survived by his son, Mark E Hogan and his wife Ronda of Cape Canaveral, FLA; two daughters, Noreen Gelinas and her husband Brian of Biddeford and Eileen Hogan of AL; two brothers, Daniel Hogan of Machias, ME and William Hogan of Veazie, ME; a sister, Patricia Fuller of Machias, ME; three grandchildren, Andrew and Madelyn Gelinas both of Biddeford, ME and Connor Hogan of Billerica, Mass; a daughter in law, Rebecca Sanderson and her husband, Jim, of Billerica, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 AM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Holy Spirit Parish at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM with Reverend Father Fred Morse officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Ocean View Cemetery in the spring.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 60 Pond Lane, Arlington, MA 02454 in Mr. Hogan’s memory.
