Obituary for Cynthia Berdeen Sirois (Berdeen)

Dateline – Ipswich, MA

Cynthia Berdeen Sirois, 77, of Ipswich, died peacefully Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kennebunk, Maine on May 16, 1940, a daughter of Kenneth Warren and Eleanor Agnes (Furbish) Berdeen. She was educated locally, graduating from Kennebunk High School, Class of 1958. She continued her education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Gorham State Teacher’s College (now University of Southern Maine-Gorham).

Cynthia began her teaching career with the Sanford School District as a Kindergarten teacher for a year. She then moved to Ipswich, MA where she taught elementary education for over 25 years.

Cynthia enjoyed the beach, knitting, going to camp, and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Beverly Baptist Church Book Club, and was very active in the Alumni associations of both Kennebunk High School and USM-Gorham.

Survivors include: her son Brent Sirois and his wife Sharon of Kennebunk, ME; her daughter, Lynette Mascioli and her husband Michael of Beverly, MA; 2 brothers, Conrad Berdeen of Arundel, ME, and Kent Berdeen of Kennebunk; her sister-in-law Sandy Berdeen of Kennebunk; 3 grandchildren, Sarah and Alyssa Mascioli of Beverly, MA, and Hannah Sirois of Kennebunk.

A Graveside committal service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Children’s Activities Fund at Boston Children’s Hospital, in memory of Cynthia Berdeen.
