Obituary for Cynthia Gwendolyn Bowles (McComb)

Cynthia Gwendolyn Bowles, 88 years, of Berwick left this world to join her beloved husband, Keith, and recently deceased son, John, on March 26, 2018.

Cynthia was born June 11, 1929 in Lowell, MA, a daughter of Arthur and Ida (Davidson) McComb. She earned her teaching degree from Gorham State Teachers College and taught in Eliot and Somersworth, NH. On July 28, 1957, Cynthia married Keith Bowles. Together, they raised their family, hosted family and friends for get-togethers, traveled and just had wonderful times.

Cynthia loved hosting parties. Often she and Keith would have everyone over to their home after an evening of square dancing just to extend the fun. She kept a birthday diary and always remembered to send cards to everyone. She gave gifts to all the children in the neighborhood and made sure that everyone’s special day was remembered. She was a member of the Gleaners and enjoyed volunteering at the Berwick Methodist Church and she and Keith were active in the Berwick Historical Society. She led the movement to add the Welcome to Berwick sign on Route 236.

Cynthia was predeceased by her husband, Keith in 2012 and her son, John, just six days prior.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan Seymour and her husband, Donald, of West Newfield, ME; her daughter in law, Rachel Bowles of Alton, NH; her grandchildren, Joshua Seymour and his wife, Michelle, Meg Seymour and Richard Hilton and his wife, Briana; and great grandchildren, Embry, Cohen, Cali, Lucas and Norah; several nieces and nephews, especially Cindy Bowles Armstrong and Owen Bowles; and many close friends.

A memorial service will be concelebrated with her son, John Bowles, at 11 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at The Berwick United Methodist Church, 37 School Street, Berwick, ME with Pastor Skip Smith. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery will follow at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to: The Berwick United Methodist Church, 37 School Street, Berwick, ME 03901.
