Obituary for Ann Cluff (Clough)

Dorothy Ann Cluff, Ann to all who knew her, 85 years, died April 12, 2018 at home in the loving care of her family.

Ann was born September 10, 1932 in Sanford, ME a daughter of Palmer and Dorothy (Fletcher) Clough. She graduated from Kennebunk High School, Class of 1950. She grew up in Kennebunkport, working with her dad at the farm butchering animals. Ann also worked for Morning Star/Corning from 1980-1997. She also caddied for President George Herbert Walker Bush at Cape Arundel Golf Course. Her favorite career was staying home taking care of her family.

Ann loved family events and was happiest when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were with her. She loved family cookouts and taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing ‘Scat’ and ‘Grunt’ and camp up in Houlton, ME. She always looked forward to the arrival of her dear friends, Marlene and John Lang, from Florida. She was a huge Jeff Gordon fan and NASCAR.

For years Ann donated her time to the First Congregational Church in Kennebunkport, cleaning and managing fund raising suppers.

In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her siblings, Esther Clough and Abby Clough.

Ann is lovingly remembered by her husband, Arnold R. Cluff; her children, Robert (Bob) Stuart, James Cluff and Rebecca Gosselin and her husband, Ray; her brother, William (Bill) Clough of Auburn and her sister, Mary Lou Bernier of Kennebunk; her grandchildren, Greg, David, Trisha, Olivia, Chad and Katrina and her husband, Doug; her great grandchildren, Kyle, Danielle, Kristopher, Taylor Rose, Thomas and Alivia; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A Memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the First Congregational Church, 141 North Street, Kennebunkport, ME. Interment will follow in Arundel Cemetery.

Ann’s family was so appreciative of the care that was provided by Hospice of Southern Maine, especially the care givers Cheryl, Stacia, Wendy, Ruth Ann and Chaplain Larry and their private caregiver, Brittany.
