Condolence: I only met Joe two years ago, and would see him a couple times a year when the boiler inspections were due for the Biddeford schools. I cannot put into words how sad I was to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with his family. He truly was a wonderful person.

Condolence: Truly a sad irony that heart disease was the cause of Joe's passing when one considers this man always "wore his heart on his sleeve". He freely gave both his heart and soul to everyone he met and in everything he did. I was fortunate to be able to call Joe my friend since I was a teenager, now over 40 years ago. I don't believe I've ever encountered an individual who was more universally loved as a champion for the children of this world. Though I, myself, am not a very religious person, I truly believe that spiritually a higher power must have needed an eternal player/manager to hit clean-up for the ultimate big time softball team. Rest peacefully, Joe. I will miss you my friend.

Condolence: I have known Joe since I was a very young man of only 10. He was ahead of my sisters in school, but since my oldest sister was a cheerleader we crossed paths many times. I stayed in touch with Joe since that time, playing on his softball team, helping him cut fire wood and various other projects. In reading all the comments it is obvious that Joe touched many folks lives besides mine. One of my great memories of Joe is when I was President of the Biddeford Athletic Association. We had many long talks about sports, sports programs and the kids will tearing down the concession after games at Waterhouse field, and his comments were always the same. Jim, "it is all about the kids" and nothing more. If you take care of the kids, find the good in all of them and make them feel good about themselves, nothing more matters. He was a very wise man and I always headed his advice when coaching and working with the kids of BHS. Joe was the big brother I never had and he was always an inspiration to me for all the things he did right. Joe had a way of bringing opposite sides together and unifying folks. You will be greatly missed by many, but my only comfort is in knowing you are at peace and connecting with your pals. Be at Peace my friend.

Condolence: When Joe worked in Biddeford I happened to be working at the school he was working at for the day. Joe and I raised a little bit of trouble in the hallways at school and always gave me a huge hug. One night I was at Bonanza with my family and Joe came in, he came to our table and introduced himself to my family, what a wonderful gesture, but then again this is Joe. Over the years at Biddeford Joe and I talked more and more. Knowing Joe , I feel blessed what a wonderful soul he had. I love this guy dearly, not only as a friend but someone that was always there for you. The way he interacted with the students was amazing !This world has lost a magnificent man ! God Bless you Joe and may you rest in peace. Thank you for being my friend !
