Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Charest, 90, of Largo, FL and Wells, ME, died peacefully Monday afternoon, May 28, 2018 at his summer residence in Wells. He was born in Gorham, NH on September 3, 1927, the son of Doric and Agnes (Girard) Charest.

On September 4, 1948, he married his soul mate Marjorie N. Mayo. Together they shared almost 70 years of marriage, raising an amazing and close family.

He retired after 49 years at Wrights Machine in Worcester, MA.

Ernie was the ultimate husband, father & friend. He enjoyed life and living to the max, especially vacations, maintaining his and friends’ lawns, tending his garden, playing cribbage, riding his bike, puttering around, helping others with projects.

He was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Charest.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Marjorie N. Charest of Largo, FL and Wells, ME; six sons, Joseph Charest and wife Tina of Lake Wales, FL, Ronald Charest and wife Holly of Glenn Allen, VA, Robert Charest and wife Diane of Spencer, MA, Kenneth Charest and wife Laura of South Portland, ME, David Charest and wife Nancy of Kennebunk, ME, Jeffrey Charest and wife Merri-Ellen of Auburn, MA; three daughters, Linda Boucher and husband Ernest of Worcester, MA, Cathy Nichols and husband Richard of Charlton, MA, Susan Genereux and husband David of Holden, MA; his brother, Donat Charest of Conway, MA; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.
