Condolence From: Anna Hill
Condolence: Ed was my special friend. We all have friends, but Ed was my "special" friend. We met a few years back, when I was Wellness Ambassador at Rite Aid. From our first communication in the tissue isle, to our last...sitting in the living room at Avita, "taking the good with the bad," he warmed my heart. Now it wasnt part of my job description to become close friends with customers, but with Ed it was almost immediate. I so much enjoyed our long conversations about his life and all his adventures. From Ed's years in the Navy, to flying his private plane and his wife disliking it, and memorable times spent with his children, especially with his only daughter, Kerry, riding scooters everywhere, Ed was remarkable! Last year I had taken him to a "Wreaths Across America" commemoration of Veterans far and wide. Some of the oldest U.S veterans were present there and were celebrated and singled out. I think the oldest in Maine was 106. "Look!! That guy's older than ME," he said with a chuckle. It was one of our most treasured days together. Ed would come see me at our neighborhood Rite Aid at least 3x a month just to say "Hello." "I'm going to have to come up with something else to get at your store other than just tissues. Your boss will think I'm trying to take you from your job," he'd say. "You know I come in here to see you, because you make me happy," he'd add. Well, Ed made me happy too. He was my "special" friend, and I will always remember him. I feel certain people cross your path for a reason in life, to teach you something. Ed taught me that you're never too old to embrace life in all its glory. My condolences to Ed's family. Much love.
