Obituary for Joan S. Jackson (Emery)
SANFORD Joan S. Jackson, 66, a resident of North Avenue, Sanford, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
Joan was born in Saco, the daughter of Frank M and Irene Grace Casey Emery, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School.
A hard worker all her life, she was employed by the former Kesslen Shoe Shop in Kennebunk, was a bartender and waitress for many years with Squaretoes Restaurant, making many friends during the course of her workday, and most recently with Reny’s Department Store in Wells.
Joan treasured family time with her children and grandchildren, and with her generous heart opened her home to those who needed a place to stay, be it one night or for stretches of time.
She is predeceased by her son David Ellsworth Brown in 2007, and her infant children Heath, Rebecca and Vickie Jean.
Survivors include her son Bryant Jackson and his wife Sharon of Acton, grandchildren Wesley Jackson, Samantha Jackson, Kaitlin Sweeney and her husband TJ, Andrew and Brandon Brown , Damian Goodreau; great grandchildren Wyatt Sweeney, Skylar and Willow Brown, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and lifelong friends Rose and Jeff Dale of Sanford.
A time of visitation will be held 1 to 3 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2016 with words of remembrance being shared at 3PM, Reverend Dennis Reeves officiating, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk.
