Obituary for Ernest Paul "Paul" Druan Sr.

Ernest “Paul” Druan, 66, passed away on June 1, 2017 @8:18am, surrounded by loving family after a year long struggle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Born on July 7, 1950 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Ernest James Druan, Sr. and Catherine (Kay) Druan. Paul attended the Bedford school system before joining the U.S. Navy as a Jet Engine Mechanic from 1968 to 1972. In 1969, Paul went on a double date with his Navy friend Billy Rogers, his girl Ann and her twin sister Mary Ellen Carroll. Mary and Paul proved to be soul mates, building a life together in Arlington and getting married on July 28th, 1973. Paul began work for Gillette Safety Razor Company and remained loyal to the brand the remainder of his life. Together they had three children, Paul Jr., Lauren and Jeffrey, whom they raised at 18 Garrison Road in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Together they adventured to Disney and made memories traveling to New Hampshire and Vermont. Paul was very active with the Boy Scouts and incredibly proud of the fact that both his boys are Eagle Scouts. Paul was active in the NRA and the Lowell Sportsman’s Club and could often be found shooting guns and spending time on the water bass fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman; some of his fondest memories are of hunting and fishing with his friends and family in Maine and Alaska.
Upon his retirement, he and Mary built their dream home in the Mountains of Weld, Maine, where they became active in the local community. They opened their home frequently to visiting family and friends, always proud to show others the Maine lifestyle.
Paul was a proud American, choosing to purchase US Made whenever possible. He enjoyed woodworking and spent several years making foot pedals for adaptive equipment for children with special needs.
Paul is survived by his wife Mary Ellen of almost 44 years, his Son Ernest Paul Druan, Jr, his wife Kristen and their girls Jillian and Zoey of Hampden, Maine, his Daughter Lauren Silva, her husband Ryan and children Haley and Gavin of Sitka, Alaska, and his son Jeffrey Druan, his wife Katey and children Jack and Sadie of Wells, Maine.
