Raymond Lloyd Nichols, Jr., age 70 of Kennebunk, ME passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. Raymond’s devoted, loving wife Robin was by his side. Raymond and his wife Robin (Swett) Nichols have been together since they met in 1970 when Ray came to Maine for a vacation and never left. He fell in love with the state of Maine and his wife Robin. Robin and Ray were together for 47+ years, they were married for 45 of those years.

Raymond was born in Montpelier, VT on October 14, 1946 to Priscilla and Raymond Nichols, Sr. He grew up in Fulton, NY with his four sisters.

Raymond served in the Air Force. He held many jobs over the years the last job he held was as a Foreman at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire.

Raymond was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Family and friends will remember that Ray could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. Ray was always doing automotive repair work with his sons. Ray loved riding motorcycles, over the years he owned several different Harley Davidson’s. His love for riding motorcycles was passed down to his children. His sons (Ray III and Randy) and his daughter (Priscilla), all ride and own their own motorcycles and loved to hit the open road with their Dad. Ray enjoyed many vacations to Florida with his wife Robin.

Raymond is survived by his wife Robin (Swett) Nichols; a sister Raelene Rupe of Virginia; a son Raymond L. Nichols, III and his wife Tina of Auburn, ME; a son Randy L. Nichols and his wife Karen of Wells, ME; a daughter Priscilla L. Osgood and her husband George of Waterboro, ME. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, RJ and Owen Nichols of Auburn, ME and Elizabeth and Carolyn Nichols of Wells, ME; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind 2 grown daughters of North Carolina, Shelly and Nancy. Ray leaves behind many close friends who were family to him.

There will be no services held for Raymond at his request. The family of Raymond Nichols, Jr. would like to thank all of the friends and family who have offered support during this time.
