Bertrand Lane Morrill CWO4, USA (retired), 87 years, a resident of South Portland formerly of Kennebunk, Maine died Friday June 30, 2017 at the Seaside Nursing Home in Portland with his family by his side.
Bertrand was born in Windham, Maine on July 14, 1929 a son of Rupert and Avis Lane
Morrill and graduated from Windham High School.

A 28 year veteran of the US Army, Bert retired in 1974 at the Rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was extremely proud of his military service. Bert joined the military in August 1946 during World War II. During his career he participated in all five campaigns of the Korean War, an additional tour in Korea, as well as a tour in the Vietnam War. His awards include Bronze Star Medal, WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with /Palm.
Upon his retirement, he was employed as Maintenance Supervisor for the Royal Saudi Navy in the Middle East for ten years. He returned to Maine and completed his career as a Maintenance supervisor for American Automobile Association of Maine. He traveled the state inspecting and consulting on AAA approved Auto Repair Facilities.

Bert was a proud friend of Bill W. He was grateful for the assistance in the program he was given over the years and in return began meetings in the local area, and assisted others with their recovery.

He was a member of the American/Canadian Solomon Lodge #822 of Stuttgart, Germany, member of the York Lodge #22 of West Kennebunk, member of the VFW Post 6548 and American Legion Post 74 both of Kennebunk.
He loved reading, sports and traveled around the world.

He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Julie Burke and three brothers Frank, Kenneth and Albert Morrill.

Bertrand is survived by his wife of 65 years Lois Grant Morrill of South Portland , a son Greg Morrill and his partner Liz Chiasson and her daughter Ryan all of Kennebunk , a daughter Christine Van Voorhis and her husband Bill of South Portland, and three grandchildren Danielle Burke of Huntsville AL, Maurice Burke of Clinton, MA and Ryan Van Voorhis and his fiancé Bridget Deady of Gorham.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday July 5, 2017 at Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk with an American Legion Service at 7 PM, followed by a Masonic service at 7:30 PM.
Funeral will be held 11 AM Thursday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bert Howe officiating. Military Burial with full honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date.

The Family wishes to thank the staff at Seaside Nursing Home in Portland for their excellent care of Mr. Morrill for over four and a half years.
