Dirk Jan van den Heuvel, Jr., a maverick New York corporate public relations executive, died on July 4 in Wells, Maine, where he lived with his devoted lifetime partner Chi Mui. He was 82.
A longtime NYC resident, Dirk enjoyed all that NYC offered, especially the arts. He held various public relations positions, including the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Joint Council on Economics and Education and PR Aids. Dirk also served on the Board of the Publicity Club of NY.
In 2011 Dirk and Chi established a home in Wells, Maine nearby the longtime, former home of Dirk’s parents. Dirk and Chi married in 2013.
In addition to his loving husband, a brother, Cornelius “Cor”, sister, Agnes, and dozens of extended family members survive Dirk.
Visiting hours will be held July 21, 2017 5-7pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road in Wells, Maine. A Memorial Service will be held July 22, 2017 1pm at Ocean View Cemetery in Wells, Maine.
