Obituary for Jane M. Lindsey (Hanson)

Jane M. Lindsey (Hanson)
Jane M. Lindsey, 64, a resident of Kennebunkport, and longtime owner of the Kennebunkport Motor Lodge, died Wednesday, August 9, 2107 at her residence after a period of failing health.

Jane was born May 7, 1953 in Natick, MA, the daughter of Ralph V. and Mabel A. Smith Hanson, and is a graduate of Wellesley High School.

Jane relocated from Wellesley Massachusetts to Kennebunkport Maine with her family in 1983 where they started the Pheasant Run Motor Inn, which was later renamed to the Kennebunkport Motor Lodge. She also worked with her mother Mabel from Mabel's Lobster Claw helping it to become one of the most successful restaurants in Kennebunkport.
At both businesses Jane enjoyed greeting and caring for their regular guests, and took great pride in making them feel at home.

Jane loved to bake, knit and had an eye for beautiful things. She was tough as nails on the outside but soft as pie on the inside. She loved her children more than life and was as loyal as they come. Anyone who knew Jane knew the key to her heart was dessert or something sweet.

She was one-of-a-kind and will be missed.

Survivors include her children Rachel and Robert Lindsey Jr., of Kennebunkport, her former husband Robert Lindsey Sr. of Arundel, a brother Mark Hanson of MA, two sisters, Donna Hanson of MA and Vickie Tripp of CA; three nieces and a nephew, Dawn Tripp, Julie Murley, Lauren Hanson, and Blake Hanson of MA, great nieces and nephews and her best friend Jennifer Lord of Kennebunk.

A celebration of Jane’s full life will be held in the fall at the motel.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, ‪PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094‬.
