Obituary for Shirley Watson Trayes-Miller

Shirley Watson Trayes-Miller, 83, a resident of Kennebunk, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. She was born in Presque Isle, ME on September 20, 1934, a daughter of Clement and Velva Leona (Sears) Watson. She graduated from Presque Isle High School, and then attended nursing school in New Britain, CT.

Throughout her nursing career, Shirley worked at several hospitals in CT and NY, and as a Hospice nurse in several Hospice facilities.

Shirley loved to draw, paint, read, and travel.

She is predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Trayes, in 1984, and her second husband John E. Miller in 2010.

Shirley is survived by four sons, Michael Gordon Trayes and partner Gail Anderson of Cazadero, CA, Stephen Edward Trayes and wife Maria of Greenville, NC, Gregory Alan Trayes of Kennebunk, ME, David Christopher Trayes and wife Amanda of St. Louis, FL; three brothers, E. Veleigh Watson of Hollis, ME, Clement Watson of Wesley Chapel, FL, Victor Watson of NC; three sisters, Ellen Gilmor of Wesley Chapel, FL, Catherine Staton of Colchester, CT, Ann Watga of Spottsylvania, VA; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Jonathan, Dylan, Megan, Alicia, and Maddie; stepgrandchildren: Kelley, her husband Tom, and their children Tom, Jr., and Christy, Penney McKay and her son John Stevens; nephew Justin Avery and his wife Amanda and family, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY. Interment will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, NY.
