Jeanette Wandmacher, 95, of Kennebunk, formerly of Roslyn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was born in Leon, KS on April 26, 1923, the only child to Christopher and Gladys (Snodgrass) Doughty. She grew up in Kansas, earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS. She met her future husband, Nicholas Wandmacher, at Southwestern College, where he was also a student. Following their marriage in May 1945, the couple lived in Washington, D.C., and Brighton Beach, NY, eventually moving to Manhattan. In 1961, they settled down in Roslyn, NY.

Jeanette taught piano for over 50 years and traveled extensively to music education seminars across the country. She was at the forefront of music education, utilizing the newest technology available to support the learning process at her home studio in Roslyn.

Jeanette was a long time member of Christ Church in Oyster Bay, NY. When not teaching or playing the piano, she enjoyed knitting and various crafts, including quilting and making pillows. She also loved attending ballet and music performances, trips to Europe with her husband, and reading works ranging from British mysteries to philosophy and poetry, and every day, The New York Times. In her later years she memorized at least 25 poems.

Jeanette is predeceased by her loving husband Nicholas.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Gabree of Kennebunk; her granddaughter, Nicole Gabree of Boston; and her former son-in-law, Wayne Gabree, of Nashua, NH.

A private burial service will be held in Oyster Bay, NY. Should friends choose, memorial donations in her name are encouraged to: Maine PBS and New Hampshire Public TV.
