Obituary for James L. "Jim" Bickford
James L. Bickford, age 69, of Wells, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was the son of the late James and Barbara Bickford.
Jim served in the US Navy submarine service where he was stationed on the USS Simon Bolivar and USS Nathan Hale. While serving on the Nathan Hale, he met his wife Patti in Honolulu, HI. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Together they had two children, Anne Nalani and Thomas Kimo Bickford.
Jim loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and attended all events they participated in.
Jim was predeceased by his son, Thomas Kimo and his parents, Jim and Barbara Bickford.
He leaves his wife, Patti (Medeiros); daughter, Anne Nalani and her fiancée Maureen Steer; his grandchildren, Tyler, Devin, Trevor, and Travis; daughter in law, Audra Bickford; his sister, Cheryl and her husband, Timothy Lindsay; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, in Kennebunk. A Words of Remembrance Service will be held immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seacoast Cancer Center, 789 Central Avenue, Dover, NH 03820.
