Joanne Louise Dickinson, 88, a resident of Cape Porpoise, ME; formerly of Ossipee and Wolfeboro, NH, died Thursday November 29, 2018 following a period of failing health.

Joanne was born on November 23, 1930 in Melrose, MA, daughter of Frederick and Josephine (White) Webber. She is a 1949 graduate of Melrose High and attended Secretarial School in Boston.

Joanne raised six children, was very athletic, and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed excursions at sea with her husband, Frank. She loved her flower gardens and to ski, bike, play tennis, golf and hike. She was creative and resourceful; she sewed, made beautiful quilts and knit sweaters for family and friends. Joanne was an avid birder and passed this appreciation on to her children. She inherited a love for cats from her paternal Grandmother, and usually had at least one feline in her home. She adored her most recent feline companion, Lizzie.

Active in the community, Joanne most recently attended the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise. She was also a member of All Saints Episcopal in Wolfeboro, NH and a long-time member of the Arundel Yacht Club in Kennebunkport.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Frank R. Dickinson who died in 2015, her identical twin sister, Joy Brewer, and sister Nancy Roth.

She is survived by a son, John Dickinson and his wife Carol of Kennebunkport, five daughters, Joy Jones and her husband Alan of Tuftonboro, NH, Susan Ciccotelli and her husband Paul of Wakefield, NH, Anne Pecor and her husband Kenneth of Flat Rock NC, Janet Dickinson and her spouse Erin Canniff of Gloucester, MA, and Jill Schmidt and her husband Bruce of Kennebunkport, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Danielle Bonney and staff at Serving Our Seniors, Avita of Wells, and Beacon Hospice for their loving care.

A celebration of Joanne’s incredible life will be held at 11 AM, Thursday December 6, 2018 at the Church on the Cape, Langsford Rd. Cape Porpoise, with Reverend Sammie Maxwell officiating. Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
