Obituary for Carolyn Perron "Carol" Hennig (Perron)

Carolyn Perron "Carol" Hennig (Perron)

Dateline – Kennebunk, ME, Naples, FL, formerly of Dover, MA

Carolyn (Perron) Hennig (8-21-1932 to 11-29-2018)

Carol passed away at home early in the morning on November 29. Family members were present at the time and she had some facetime and cell phone conversations with her grandchildren and great grandchild in Los Angeles, the evening prior to her passing. Carol was a member of the Kennebunkport South Congregational Church and the Kennebunk River Club. She was also a sustaining member and former President of the Seacoast Garden Club of Kennebunkport.
Born in Weymouth, MA to the Reverend Arnold R. Perron and Irene (Grimset) Perron, her family moved to Haverhill, MA, where she graduated valedictorian of Haverhill High School. She earned her BA, Phi Beta Kappa, at Colby College. Upon graduation, she married her college sweetheart, William Hennig of Hempstead, NY. After a stint with the US Army, Carol and William settled in Dover, Massachusetts where they raised their two children, Suzanne and David. At the same time, she earned an MSW from Simmons College and worked as a social worker at Trinity Mental Health in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Carol and Bill’s Colby love and time together in Maine, at Colby College, lead them to Kennebunkport Maine in 1980. Over time, their interests centered in Kennebunkport and Naples, Florida where they spent the winters.

Carol is survived by her husband William; daughter Suzanne; Son David and his wife, Alison; grandchildren, April Karras and her husband, Angelo, Todd Hennig; great granddaughter, Luella Karras; and her sister, Janet Boulanger. We also want to acknowledge and thank the small “army” of caregivers who made it possible for Carol to remain at home over the past two years.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME with Rev. Donald Hammond from South Congregational Church. There will also be a celebration of Carol’s life held in the summer of 2019, date and time will be announced once scheduled.
