Obituary for John Thomas "Jack" Connerty Jr.

John (Jack) Thomas Connerty, Jr. passed away at his home in Ogunquit, Maine surrounded by his family on December 3, 2018. Jack treasured his 82 years of a life marked by a positive outlook, intellectual curiosity, ready wit, and an interest in others.
Born in 1936 in Somerville, MA to John Thomas and Mary Carey Connerty, Jack was raised in Arlington, MA until the family moved to North Weymouth in 1948. He graduated from Weymouth High School and Thayer Academy, earned his bachelor’s degree in 1959 from the College of the Holy Cross, and received his law degree from Suffolk University in 1966. He married Jacquelyn Dimond Connerty, the love of his life, in 1961.
Jack had a long and successful career as a pharmaceutical sales executive in the Philadelphia area. His mentorship to colleagues was appreciated by both newcomers to the profession and his peers. Upon retirement in 1995, Jack and Jackie returned to New England, splitting time between Ogunquit, Maine and Jackson, NH, a town in the White Mountains they were first introduced to in the 1960’s. In Ogunquit, Jack loved his power walks through town and along the Marginal Way. His impromptu chats with Ogunquit locals were a prized part of his daily routine. He was an active and proud member of the Ogunquit Residence Alliance and was committed to the community. Jack was also a longtime member of the York Diversity Forum.
Jack had many interests. An avid skier, Jack skied both cross-country and downhill and proudly realized a bucket list goal of skiing free at Bretton Woods upon turning 80. He loved languages, in particular French and Spanish, and dance, specializing in Tap, Tango and the Electric Slide. He was an intrepid traveler with a special fondness for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and its people. He loved history, the Red Sox, and the New England Patriots.
Jack’s greatest pleasure in life though was his family and the many friendships developed and cultivated throughout his lifetime. He cared deeply for people, always taking care to remember names and soliciting details about people’s lives. He was keenly interested in the activities of his grandchildren, and his later years were filled with pride at their accomplishments.

Jack was cherished by his wife of 57 years; children John (Jack) Thomas Connerty, III, Franklin, MA, Allison Dimond Burdon (Peter), Bedford, NH, and Brendan Christopher Connerty (Anne), Cos Cob, CT; his siblings Denise Connerty Gee (Geoffrey), to whom he was a surrogate father; Elaine Connerty, and Richard Connerty (Juanita); nine grandchildren, Brynne and Matthew Connerty, Perry, Brooke and Graham Burdon; Aiden, Nolan and Michael Connerty, and Madeleine Gee; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
