Frances Pillsbury “Fran” Hinckley, 83, of Kennebunk, went home to be with Jesus, her Savior and Lord Saturday, evening, July 29, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kennebunk on December 25, 1933, the daughter of Halstead E. and Stella (Hooper) Pillsbury, grew up locally, and graduated from Kennebunk High School, Class of ’52. Fran continued on to college, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Gordon College, Wenham, MA, Class of ’56.

On August 18, 1956, she married her college sweetheart, Robert G. Hinckley. Last summer, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Fran taught in Elementary schools in Ipswich, Raynham, and Middleboro, MA. She was a wonderful homemaker and Pastor’s wife to Robert during his years in the ministry which included assignments at the 1st Baptist Church of Raynham,MA., South Baptist Church, Laconia, NH, Woodlawn Baptist Church Pawtucket, RI, Pleasant Run 1st Baptist Church, Cincinnati, OH, and 1st Baptist Church, Abington, MA. Throughout these, and several interim assignments, Fran was active in each church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and in Bible study groups. She was most recently a member of Ogunquit Baptist Church.

Following their retirements in 1998, Bob and Fran moved to Kennebunk. In her free time, Fran enjoyed cooking, puzzles, walking the beach, and spending as much time with her family as possible. Her first priority has always been her family; from treasured annual visits to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, family trips to Storyland, and attending all the grandchildrens’ sporting events. Family, faith, and friends sustained her.
Fran was predeceased by a son, Robert G. Hinckley, Jr., a sister, Phyllis Stuart, and her brother, Robert Pillsbury.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 61 years, Robert G. Hinckley of Kennebunk; her son, Jonathan Hinckley and wife Marjorie of Raynham, MA; three daughters, Beth Spongberg and husband Mark of Wesley Chapel, FL, Patricia Stevens and husband Doug of Derry, NH, Nancy Hinckley of Everett, MA; her sister, Shirley L’Heureux and husband Roland of Kennebunk; her sister-in-law Mildred Pillsbury of Kennebunk; a Brother in Law David Stuart of Kennebunk and seven grandchildren.

There are no visiting hours. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Ogunquit Baptist Church, 157 Shore Road, Ogunquit. Burial was private. Fran would be honored if, in lieu of flowers, donations in her name were made to: Ogunquit Baptist Church Mission Fund PO Box 874, Ogunquit, ME 03907.
