Obituary for Frank Joseph Budreau

Frank Joseph  Budreau
Frank Joseph Budreau, 87, of Kennebunk, died peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Millinocket, ME on December 30, 1929, a son of Edward Joseph and Katherine (McQuarrie) Budreau. He grew up in Millinocket, and attended Stearns High School. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1947 to 1950. During this time, he served as a Corpsman with the 2nd Combat Service Group Command, Fleet Marine Force, Camp Lejeune, NC. With the FMF, he sailed aboard USS Klinesmith (APD134), USS LSDT 980 USMC, and USS Okanagan (LSD149). Following his military service, he attended Hillyer College in Hartford, CT., and the University of Connecticut. Following college, he began a 34-year career as an Engineer with Pratt & Whitney at their East Hartford, Connecticut and North Berwick Maine production facilities.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and playing golf. He was past director of Kennebunk Fish and Game, and was a member of the American Legion, Webber Lefebvre Post 74, Kennebunk, and the Kora Shrine Moped Parade Unit. Frank was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-5 and 21-5 in East Hartford, CT for 28 years. From 1959 to 1979, he held a variety of positions from Flotilla Commander to Division Training Officer. He attended the Coast Guard-sponsored Search and Rescue school at Governors Island, New York. Over the years, he received four commendations from the U.S. Coast Guard for assisting and rescuing boaters in distress.

Frank is predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and Ronald Budreau; and two sisters, Dorothy Proctor and Corrine Hughes.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Delphine (Jachcik) Budreau of Kennebunk; his daughter, his grandson Cal; and a brother, Larry Budreau of Anderson, SC.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Budreau family would like to extend a special thanks to Katie and all the caring people at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their exceptional care of Frank.
