Dottie Nyland Warmbier

My mother, Louise Nyland, introduced me to Louis when I was a teenager. She held him in the highest esteem and while my meeting was only in passing, I felt his warmth and generous spirit immediately. Later, As a young single mother I sent him a greeting and I just found the letter he sent me in 1989. His beautiful words were needed greatly today. But I was in tears thinking how sad my choices were to never try to reach out in person. But these words were in that letter: Many of us could look back twenty years and wonder why we didn’t do certain tasks at that time, but that is not how we are measured in life; it’s how we have grown into a greater maturity and become more at one with ourselves and the life we encounter every day. A willingness to be challenged by fresh ideas and the continued need for intellectual and aesthetic stimulation.” My mother passed away in 2002 so I hope I can represent her as well with the sentiments that Louis was a shining light in our world. Although incredibly late, my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
